Job Summary
As a Caterpillar Parts Operations Consultant within the EAME Distribution Division, you will work with our Cat Dealers based in Europe, Africa, Middle East, and Eurasia as well as with our global Caterpillar Product Support & Logistics Division. In this role, when your peers at Caterpillar design, manufacture, market or sell Cat parts, you will ensure that the right parts are available for our customers, at the right time and at the right place.
Dealer Operational Excellence is what we aim for, in support of our company’ Services Growth strategy and our Caterpillar brand promise. To achieve it, you will lead Cat Dealers’ capabilities improvement initiatives related to parts distribution & logistics, inventory management, order management, supply chain management and sales & operations planning (Dealer Forward Planning). All the above falls under our five strategic imperatives:
1. Sales management (granularity and deep dive)
2. Planning (the right forecast for the right planning)
3. Profitability (operations impact Cat and Dealer profitability)
4. Warehousing (do our dealers have the right capacity to support our growth targets?)
5. Share & Replica culture (our legacy)
What You Will Do
- Parts Excellence:
- You drive the deployment and execution of this program, through the various Parts Operations assessments available, with your Cat dealers’ portfolio.
- The program is made of parts operations metrics (eg. OTIF, OTIL) and attributes (eg. Customer Loyalty, safety) that you will own to attain global consistency among dealers.
- Parts Operations analytics:
- You are fed with data and key performance indicators to which analytics and facts are applied so you can interpret market insights and lead change.
- You will perform and coordinate with your partners analytical work to identify and work on problem resolution which can be tactical or more strategic.
- Aftermarket Business acumen:
- S&OP. Sales. Operations. Planning. You are working in close relationship with the Aftermarket sales teams (Cat and Dealers) to ensure Cat's Inventory Management team is told about the future events expected on the market so we can influence the supply chain accordingly through forward planning, for you to lead customer’s parts availability and dealer profitability improvement.
- As you support parts sales forecast needs, you will also lead continuous monitoring of sales targets together with your partners.
- Project management:
- As a consultant, you will lead project teams made of subject matter experts, and in support of the areas of improvement identified through the Parts Excellence Program.
- You will need to leverage known and used process improvements project methodology (6 Sigma, gateway methodology, lean, etc.).
- Self-starter mindset:
- “Nothing is impossible”: You enjoy being reactive as much as proactive to fix and anticipate issues.
- You like to influence and believe in the “communication is key” motto to be successful as you will need to engage with several parties, internal (Cat), external (Dealers) and at all level of management.
What You Have
- Bachelor’s degree as a minimum
- 3 to 6 years prior experience in:
- Parts distribution & logistics OR inventory management OR order management OR supply chain management OR sales & operations planning (S&OP).
- Industry knowledge such as: Mining OR construction OR energy & transportation (E&T) OR fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG).
- Dealer or reseller service organizations and processes understanding.
- Fluent in English: Other languages are a plus.
- Business acumen and customer service mindset.
- Advanced in excel and powerpoint: Other tools are a plus.
